Instant Author Tool

Client: Department of State, Foreign Service Institute, Office of the Executive Director for Management, Instructional Support Division (FSI/EX/ISD)

Under the FSI/EX/ISD contract, Paltech developed a customized authoring tool Instant Author(IA) for the Foreign Service Institute. After the launch of a successful course, IA gained immediate popularity. Demands for subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop their own courses in IA grew. In responding to this need, Paltech designed a training curriculum to enable SMEs to develop their own eLearning courses that includes a 2 day instructor-led training workshop. Paltech designed and developed experiential activities for each training session to allow students to input “real content” into IA within their test sites and receive immediate feedback for their work.

Professional Development Opportunities (PDOs)

Client: Office of Head Start

Following the highly successful Head Start National Dual Language Institute, Paltech staff on the Head Start Resource Center Contract worked with Federal staff to design and develop a series of eight multimedia Professional Development Opportunities (PDOs) to support the continuous learning and professional development of staff in Head Start and Early Head Start Programs.

Each PDO featured experts, program leaders, and practitioners. Video clips of classroom interactions and interviews with parents, teachers, aides and managers highlighted practical strategies and approaches to support children who are dual language learners. Paltech helped design and develop the overall strategy, identify and recruit experts, and develop scripts. In the development phase, Paltech edited written materials, such as PowerPoint presentations and Viewer’s Guides, and assisted in the production of each PDO.
